by Billy Tarpley on April 27, 2020

Dear Colleagues:

As many cities and states consider reopening essential businesses and easing back into normal operations, I know that many of you are planning to return to practice soon. Helping you get back to work (while protecting patients, staff, and you in the process) has been atop the American Dental Association’s agenda in recent weeks, and I am pleased to announce the development of the ADA’s Return to Work Interim Guidance Toolkit.

Developed with oversight from the ADA’s Task Force on Practice Recovery and with input from ADA team experts, the toolkit is designed to offer useful tips for managing your practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. The toolkit currently includes the following: Customizable letter to patients Guidance for pre-appointment screening, in-office patient registration, and post-procedure patient exit Staff protection strategies Chairside checklist for working in the operatory Supplies shopping list The interim guidance on masks and face shields (released on April 18th) is also included within the toolkit, all of which is designed to be used in tandem with your professional judgment.

Because knowledge about COVID-19 continues to evolve, the toolkit and its offerings will be continually reviewed and updated as new information becomes available.

There is more to come on this path to recovery, and as you return to work in the weeks and months ahead, the ADA is looking out for you. Stay tuned.

Yours in service,
Chad P. Gehani, DDS
