Saturday, March 21, 2020 –

During his daily press conference on the coronavirus situation in Arkansas, Governor Asa Hutchinson stated that the Virus in Arkansas will peak in about 6 to 8 weeks based on the viruses spread and other states. To that end he warned that Arkansans should continue to be vigilant in observing precautions.

Further, health secretary Dr. Nate Smith acknowledged the role that dentists are playing in preventing the spread of the virus by limiting dental procedures to emergencies only. He thanked the dental community, but also suggested that a directive will be forthcoming next week to reinforce the necessity for all dentists to participate.

On Friday, March 20, the state dental board forwarded a letter to health secretary Smith that would support a mandatory suspension of dental procedures except for urgent and emergent cases until April 17, which is consistent with the school closures in Arkansas.

ASDA will continue to monitor this development.
