LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) — A State Senator’s son is being hailed as a Good Samaritan after helping a driver escape his burning truck minutes before it exploded.
Legislator Ruth Whitaker fell ill last night and a family friend called her son Bryan.
He rushed from his Fayetteville home to check on his mom at her rural Crawford County home.
Dr. Bryan Whitaker quickly realized that a driver had lost control when he saw a man standing beside his wrecked truck in a ditch.
Dr. Whitaker climbed down eight feet to help the driver out. Shortly after emergency personnel arrived, the car burst into flames.
Senator Whitaker and her son agree that he was in the right place at the right time, and doesn’t believe that her sickness was a coincidence. The driver’s condition is unknown.
