May 11 Set as Reopen Date for Dental Offices

by Billy Tarpley on May 6, 2020

Wednesday, May 6, 2020 – ASDA is pleased to report that Secretary of Health Dr. Nate Smith announced today during the Governor’s daily press conference that Monday, May 11 has been approved for the Phase I reopen date for Arkansas dental offices.

As stated earlier, dental offices will be reopened in an incremental manner as outlined in the document “Provision for Resuming Non-Urgent, Non-Emergent Elective Services.”

Secretary Smith made the announcement while reporting on the progress of the COVID-19 Dental Advisory Group. The group met yesterday on a conference call in which Dr. Pierce Osborne, ASDA President, and Dr. Ernie Woodard, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Little Rock, represented ASDA. Both Dr. Osborne and Dr. Woodard effectively outlined the readiness of dental offices in the state to resume services under the new guidelines.

We are appreciative of ASDA leadership and the hundreds of dentists who responded to the Call to Action sent last week encouraging the decision makers to consider May 11 as the reopening date. We will continue to report more information as it becomes available.
