DHS to Cover Dental Costs for Patients in Nursing Homes and Other Facilities

by Billy Tarpley on May 23, 2018

May 23, 2018 – In a statement issued today by the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS), dentists are made aware that Medicaid will honor approvals given by Delta Dental or MCNA whose enrollees were deemed ineligible due to residing in a nursing home, Human Development Center, or participation in a PACE program.

“The residents that reside in these settings are exempt from Dental Managed Care…and eligible services provided to these referenced beneficiaries should be billed directly to Medicaid under the state dental plan, not MCNA or Delta Dental,” the letter stated.
