Dr. Thomas Carter Smith, 62, died March 30th, 2016, at St. Vincent’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 10th, 1953, in Texarkana, Texas, to Charles and Genevieve Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Kathleen Smith; sons Patrick (Lauren), Stillwater, OK; Daniel, Little Rock; and daughter, Kaitlin, also of Little Rock; and her fiancée, Alex Long; brother, Jay Smith, Bella Vista, AR; sister, Cindy McMahon, San Bernadino, CA: parents-in-law, Drs. Patrick and Delores Doyle, Murfreesboro, TN; brothers-in-law Brad McMahon, Shawn, and Tim Doyle; sisters-in-law Celeste Smith, Kris Doyle, and Tamara Davenport; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Dr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Jay and Elizabeth Smith and Charles and Kathleen Smith; and nephew, Scott Gregory.
He earned his B.S. degree at Hendrix College; M.S. degree at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville; and DDS from the University of Tennessee College for Health Sciences, Memphis.
Dr. Smith practiced dentistry in Little Rock for the past thirty-two years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the Rotary Club of West Little Rock, Arkansas State Dental Association, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was an active leader in The Boy Scouts of America, and mentored nearly fifty young men on their journey to attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
Dr. Smith enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, playing bridge, and traveling.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1st at Ruebel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2nd.
